Enrichment and Extra-Curricular
At The Adeyfield Academy we recognise that students thrive when they take part in additional experiences outside the classroom.
We are proud of the wide range of extracurricular activities available. We have school teams in a wide range of sports, a large variety of orchestras and music ensembles and drama and art workshops. We are excited to be launching the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme from September 2019.
Residential opportunities are provided for all our students including local, national and world wide trips abroad. In their first term at school, Year 7 students attend a 3 day residential as part of their induction programme.
The full list of the clubs currently on offer is available in the document below.
As part of the school’s extra-curricular activities, The Adeyfield Academy is excited to be launching the the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme from September 2019.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is a nationally recognised scheme. The areas of Skill, Physical Recreation, Volunteering and the Expedition ensure that participants in the scheme gain a wide range of new skills including team work and organisation and enhance their confidence whilst taking greater responsibility for themselves and others. The completion of awards gives participants a sense of achievement in a non-competitive context.
“The DofE can be considered a fundamental part of the ‘Make a Human Being’ kit”
Pratchett OBE, Author
The Adeyfield Academy will be starting by operating the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at the Bronze level, and hopes to quickly build and develop. The information below indicates the commitment needed for each stage:
Three months for two of the three sections (Volunteering, Skill and Physical Recreation), 6 months for one section. Expedition training, a practice expedition and a two day final expedition with overnight camp.
The expedition is a four day venture and in addition a residential five day course away from home must be completed.
