Welcome to

The Adeyfield Academy

Absence

Morning registration starts at 8:35am. However, all students are expected to physically be inside the building by 8.30am**. If for any reason your child arrives at school after these times, they must sign in with Mrs Walker in the attendance office located next to main reception.

** Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines the arrival times per year group are set as follows:

  • Year 7, 8, 12, 13 arrival time 8:30 am - 8:35 am
  • Year 9, 10, 11 arrival time 8:40 am - 8:45 am

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, it is important to contact us as soon as possible on each day of absence.

Our Late/Absence line number is - 01442 406020  -  Option 1.

Please leave a message explaining why your child is going to be absent so their attendance records can be updated. Alternatively you can email the attendance office at attendance@adeyfield.herts.sch.uk

All absences must be explained by a signed note to your child's Form Tutor, in their planner on the day of  their return. Please give the dates and reasons for the absence. For all medical appointments, proof must be shown in advance. Please note that it is a student's responsibility to catch up any work missed due to absence.

If your child is absent without a reason then a text message will be sent to the parent/carer listed as their priority contact. This message can be responded to by return text . If you receive a text and you believe your child is in school then please call our Attendance Officer, Mrs Walker immediately            on 01442 406020 - Option 1.

If you wish to take your child out of school in exceptional circumstances e.g. funeral of a relative, music exam, please write a letter detailing the reason for the absence and address it to the Principal, Ms Mason.

Government guidelines do not permit the school to give authorisation for holidays during term time, even if this includes travel for a special occasion.  If a child is absent from school, without authorisation, for more than 15 sessions (1/2 day = 1 session) in a term, then the school is obliged to apply to the local authority for the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice fine.
