Roald Dahl Day 14.09.2020

September 13th is Roald Dahl Day but we celebrated it on Monday. The English department created some lovely lesson plans looking at the structure and form of Roald Dahl’s writings. For example: Miss Trunchbull's alliterations -  “You empty headed hamster.

Quotes from students :

“It was memorable”,  “Awesome” ,  “Fantastic”,  Miss Hime “I loved it” Luke B “ Fantastic Mr Fox was robbed of No1 Roald Dahl book!”

Did you know:

Roald Dahl's Top 10 Titles in Print and on Kindle (Sept 2011 - 2016)

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

2. The BFG

3. George's Marvellous Medicine

4. Matilda

5. James and the Giant Peach

Roald Dahl original language:

BIFFSQUIGGLED

"'You must not be giving up so easy,' the BFG said calmly. 'The first titchy bobsticle you meet and you begin shouting you is biffsquiggled.'" The dictionary describes it as capturing what it feels like when "your brain is reeling from a punch and is as muddled as a squiggly piece of doodling.“

Best Trunchball insults:

Miserable little gumboil

Nauseating little warts

Empty-headed hamster

Stupid glob of glue

Poisonous little pockmark

Clotted carbuncle

Fleabitten fungus
