Duke of Edinburgh Award
In any year around 60 Adeyfield pupils are following the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. They enrol at Bronze level in year 10 and can move onto Gold as they progress into the Sixth Form. New entrants to the school can join the scheme at any time. The award scheme is non-competitive and helps pupils to develop confidence and a sense of responsibility. The areas of Skill, Physical Recreation, Service and Expedition combine to produce a rounded individual and the completion of awards gives pupils a sense of achievement and a valuable addition to their c.v. The Library
The Library is open from 8am until 4pm every day for reading, study, research, the borrowing of resources, research based lessons and sixth form study. After school, students can come to the library to do their homework and during break-times students can, in addition to the usual library activities, play games.
The YEC
The YEC, Young Earth Citizen, is a club for students to express their views and get involved. We are linked with lots of schools around the world. One of our main partners is Marias Public School based in Guwahati, India. Our aims are to make students aware of the different cultures around the world, spread our views and opinions and to have a good time. We are based in the Business and Enterprise block and meet every Tuesday from 4:30pm till 6:00pm. Refreshments are always provided! Parents and students are welcome.
