Year 7 South East of England 5-a-side
After winning the district 5-a-side year 7 got through to the South East regional section to play teams from London, Norfolk, Suffolk, Herts, Beds at the David Beckham Academy. They were welcomed at the main entrance and taken through to the changing rooms past David Beckham's memorabilia, which included the boots he wore to score from the halfway line, the shirt he wore to score the famous goal against Greece for England and shirts of some of the best players he has played against.
In the tournament itself they did fantastically well after a slow start. Playing in a group of 7 against; Kingsmead from Enfield, Park View Academy from Haringey, John Hampden Grammar from High Wycombe, City of Ely comm. College from Isle of Ely, Copleston High from Ipswich and Suffolk, and a representative from mid-Herts. They only lost two games. They lost controversially 1-0 to tournament favourites Park View Academy who won the group, and 3-1 to Hampden Grammar who contained two players from professional academies. Other than that they drew 3 and won one 2-0, finishing in 4th place.
The team consisted of:
Craig King (goalkeeper), Nathan Stearne, Charlie Rance, Josh Fossey, Daniel Devine (who scored 1 goal), Ryan Jeffrey, and Ryan Cole (who scored 4 goals).
They were a credit to the school, playing fantastically well and behaving immaculately.
